Welcome to Malibu: the town along California’s famous Pacific Coast Highway and home to spectacular views and amazing real estate. Malibu is where land meets sea, and is a town that stretches for miles along the highway. The Pacific Coast Highway travels along California’s coast and Malibu is one of the towns that the roadway passes through. Malibu is famous for its many attractions such as world-class restaurants, amazing scenery and Mediterranean climate. Its facilities utilize either land, sea or a combination of both drawing visitors in and keeping locals happy. Those lucky enough to call Malibu home are subject to many visitors because of the town’s luxurious, catering vibe. One business that takes advantage of Malibu’s sunny temperate climate and rich soil is Saddlerock Ranch.
This ranch sits on 300 acres of land in the Santa Monica Mountains and is able to harness the sun’s energy to produce wine and serve as an event venue. During colonial times, Spanish explorers designated ranches, or ranchos to men who were able to use the lands for farming purposes. After many years, the land now known as Saddlerock Ranch is privately owned and has opened its doors to the public. Malibu may rest on a busy highway, but the land behind the stretch of roadway expands along the mountain tops to provide home for wineries and large event venues for gatherings, something Malibu does all too well. Specifically speaking, Saddlerock Ranch is home to Malibu Wines, a winery that specializes in tastings, hikes, and even safaris. Yes, safaris! The winery has a program where people are able to take a tour around the grounds with giraffes! Malibu Wines also offers tastings and hikes along the property. Saddlerock Ranch also offers the land to be used for special events. The sunny weather, mild climate, and fertile soil allow people to celebrate together and take in the beautiful scenery.
The warm sun and Mediterranean vibe found in Malibu are unique and hard to match. Some towns have sun and beautiful mountain scenery like Malibu, but its placement along the coast is inspiring to many residents. It makes them more creative and able to express themselves in ways such as art and business. Two residents of Malibu do this well and their names are Julie Wuellner and Khalil Rafati. Wuellner (@jwuellnerphotogrpahy) is a photographer based in the Los Angeles area that takes gorgeous portraits of weddings, animals, people, and the area along the sea to make her art. It stands out among other artists’ works because her portraits evoke passion, authenticity, and the simplicity of nature as beauty. Her work can also be found in magazine publications. Rafati (@khalilrafati) expresses his art through his businesses. His story is also very inspiring. After years of drug and alcohol abuse, the “Malibu Juice Magnate,”as Walter Kirn of the New York Times describes him, Rafati was able to become the owner of the juice company known in Los Angeles as Sun Life Organics. The juice company has a location in Malibu that inspired Rafati one day to spark change in his life and cease his addictive habits. Not only does Rafati now own Sunlife Organics, but he also started a yoga studio called Malibu Beach Yoga located on Pacific Coast Highway. Malibu’s close relationship with nature is a source of inspiration to these two artists and their lifestyles.
The sunny and beach side town of Malibu is hard to copy and second to none. Its sunny weather is attractive to many and its perfect mixture of the elements can provide a positive energy for those who seek to find it or utilize its potential. It is a great town along the Pacific Coast Highway and is recommended for all to experience.
